Our Therapy Programmes

The clinical programme will deliver well proven, state-of-the-art evidence-based approaches, to help patients achieve and maintain abstinence. This is achieved through a comprehensive and intensive clinical schedule integrating the best psychotherapeutic, medical, nursing , psycho-educational and experiential therapies, in order to help patients develop and mantain a healthy abstinence from all substances and behaviours.

The clinical programme will consist of an intensive mix of psychotherapeutic (12 step facilitation, CBT, motivational interviewing), medical, psycho-educational and experiential (equine assisted psychotherapy, challenge course, massage and exercise therapy) activities. These will be structured around each individual patient's needs and include individual and group psychotherapy, medical interventions, physical exercise, nutrition and integrated interventions, such as trauma therapy (utilising EMDR, NLP, hypnotherapy) as well as rTMS, when clinically indicated.

Medically Managed Detoxification

Detox from certain substances will be managed using state-of-the-art protocols aimed at helping the individual to move smoothly from active substance use to abstinence. We’ll aim at achieving this with the least physical and mental discomfort and keeping the individual able to function and attend the therapeutic programmes. The length of detox will vary according to the substance and the quantity used. This will be decided on admission and during the evaluation in the Medical Unit.

Residential Programmes

As soon as patients are able to leave the Medical Unit (even though the actual detox has not finished), they’ll be encouraged to join the community by moving into double occupancy bedrooms, or single bedroom if clinically recommended, and will be expected to join in with the full therapeutic activities. The aim here is to help our patients to maintain the newly achieved abstinence. The duration of this will depend on individual needs, but the period will generally average between four and six weeks.
Our Therapy Programmes

Strenghten the person's ability

The clinic will offer week long programmes to patients who have successfully completed the residential programme. These will be structured around themes common in early recovery and aimed at strengthening the person's ability to remain abstinent and develop a good quality of life.

Family Therapy Week

Addiction is a problem that affects the whole family system. We encourage our patients to actively involve their loved ones (to include, if necessary, friends and work colleagues) and participate in a structured week-long interaction (either in person or remotely) to help the ‘family members' gain a better understanding of addiction, the effects on them and how they can also join their loved ones in the recovery journey.
